mein Stand war auch, dass es Hubraumbeschränkungen für die aerodynamisch gebauten Autos gegeben hat.

The 1970 Superbird was built to win NASCAR. Ford had dominated the series in the late 1960s with their Talladegas and even the Superbird's twin, the 1969 Dodge Daytona, couldn't take enough wins off them. The 1970 Superbird offered slightly better aerodynamics than the Dodge, to give good downforce at 200 mph (322 km/h). Under the hood the 426 ci (6.9-litre) Hemi was fitted, and it made the Superbird so quick that it won 21 races and the whole championship in its first season. The NASCAR officials stepped in, however, to keep competition even, and thus imposed engine-size restrictions on cars with rear wings, hence the Superbird was banned. Plymouth had trouble selling the street versions because of their radical looks, so many had the nose cones and rear spoilers stripped off to be sold as standard Road Runners.

Slottus Aussage war aber, dass dies bereits für 1970 Gültigkeit hatte.
