Hello Alex, Joustel and Roland.
As I have said, I have been making this car for two years. I have made one chassis for each year and will have a new chassis for this year. I am also making new wheels for this year!
On occasion I will use a PCS chassis. They are OK, but not good. (chassis number 1). This chassis was used on another car.
Most chassis I
make are in aluminium, so, the second Auto Union chassis was in aluminium. It was not too good, so I sold it. The picture below shows a similar chassis for a Bugatti.
The most recent chassis is in piano wire (piano draht?). I will post pictures in the new year.
The wheels are also made by me. The rims are aluminium, the spokes are photo etched, the wheel nuts are composite aluminium/whitemetal. I am making better wheels now.
I would like to preserve the engine detail, but perhaps just the top of the engine is ok? Opinions please.
The tyres are Scalextric, but they do not grip too well. Graham Poulton (G.P.Miniatures) will I hope soon be able to supply urethane tyres to suit.
Then we can all have great pre-war racing cars which are fast and fun to drive!
My preferance is for cars 1925-65, most of all 1925-1950. A great period in racing.
