Hi, Andres,

yes, I see, we talk about the same body :-)

I´ve got my kit from MacPinches himself. Unfortunately, he has retired, so that this source of exceptionel formula kits is closed now.

A very good picture-show and a high inspiration for me (brakes and suspension are excellent!) to do more detailing in my 3 Lancia-Ferraris!
As you did, I´ve cut the air discharge openings with a little knife, too.

Thank you very much for this!

Regards, Taffy

I think Mark Gussin still sells those kits.
The user "Scratchbuilding" bought it for me. Let's see if he knows more than me:
Jooooooaaaaaaaaannnnn!

Finally I took forces to paint......

Flat white, then bright white, and masking:

Flat red to uniform the base color:

Dark red (30 red/ 1 blue sky Tamiya) to finish:

I retire the mask 10 minutes after painting, but it was there a few days ago. I had made the photos just after that. I believe that the painting will stretch something more .
Perhaps I will polish first to the clear.

Hi, Andres!

No, I don´t think, my D50 is better than yours. I think, that I can learn from you! (and hopefully, you from me, too?) I see, you like the detailing of the cars as much as I do. It would be very nice, if we could place the finished cars side by side, but unfortunately, there are a lot of kilometres between us.....

I would be very happy to see more pictures of your further working steps.

I even don´t have a good solution for the fixing of the side-tanks. At the rear, one can glue them to the oil-radiators, but at the frontal part?

My work at the D50´s will stop for approx. the next two weeks now, because I have to prepare my 1:24-cars for the start of the season of Vintage Slot Classic
( http://www.rennserien-west.de/rennserie ... intage.htm ).

Can you teach me how to fix the side-tanks?

I haven't a solution yet. In fact, I haven't think about it yet. The only thing I know is that it would not be easy. In adition, I can't glue to de oil-radiators because they are smaller than the distance I have between the body and the inside of the wheels.
I supose I'll do it like the original, with metallic pins in V shape (one ahead and another back), and perhaps reinforced with other pins inside if necesary.

Don' t worry. My rythm is really very very slow. I don't think I'll have any advance in to weeks... neither in three, neither in four....

Have a good journey at the Vintage Slot Classic! :top

Hi, Andres,

I build all my 50s-formula-cars with a width of 52 mm at the rear to have comparible cars, so my Lancia will be a bit smaller than yours.

For fixing the side-tanks MacPinches says, one should make "U"-formed carriers, fixed onto the chassis. Then you shut put the side-tanks onto these carriers after drilling holes in the underside of the tanks. The V-shaped metal carrier should only be used as "Cosmetic". I think, this is not the best idea, because you see the (U-)carriers coming out of the underside of the tank. Doesn´t look like in the real car....

Here is, how the real car looks between tank and body:

Yes, that is what I meant (in my bad english): Two "V" between the tank and the body....
... But it won't be easy.

Little problems with the sand paper and the result....

P.D. to Taffy: as you can see, you have a lot of time to reach me.

Hello, Andres!

Do you know the german tale about the "hare and the hedgehog" ? :D

No, I think, we both know, building of this D50 is not a race, and "first finished" doesn´t mean "first price".
Yesterday I had a good racing day inspite of not getting good race results. Next week I hope to continue with the D50 trying to solve the side-tank-problem....

In addition to my last "mensaje privado": Yesterday I met Ronald Eidecker and asked him about the "rivets" ( and bought some...). Unfortunately I didn´t tell you the right price, because I didn´t remembered it well! He told me, its 15,- EUR for 500 rivets!
