Bugatti T35B - Airfix

Here is my latest car. It is built to race, it is fast and fun to drive.





The body is a converted Airfix kit. The chassis is aluminium with the axle running in brass bearings. An SCX motor is fitted and an MRRC Clubman guide. The wheels are modified ones from the Airfix kit.

Hi ecki.
The chassis was made in a very time consuming fashion, only worthwhile because I was making many of them. Here is an earlier car which did not handle so well because it was too light!



The aluminium is heat treated and then hammered around a steel former, as you can see in the picture below.



The chassis takes only a short time to make. The former took a long, long time...

I have made similar chassis for Aston Martin...



......here I have used dural aluminium for the former.

Also for Mercedes. Here you can see that the former has been modified.

Hallo Peter,

I'm very excited. A forged chassis I like it especially that the chassis is beautifully adapted to the body. I've already thought about making a mold and cast the chassis in aluminum. Now I have to re-think about it again .
